The Plot
The Awakening of the Accuser and the Entanglement
In the desolate reaches of the galaxy, the Kree Supremor Dar-Benn unearths a relic of immense power: a legendary Quantum Band. Upon equipping the artifact, the surge of ancient energy is immediate and catastrophic. Her newfound power sends violent ripples across the very fabric of space, destabilizing the universe’s infrastructure by creating a chaotic web of interconnected Jump Points. This anomaly disrupts the essence of interstellar travel, affecting the entire network, including a critical point near Earth's S.A.B.E.R. Space Station, currently commanded by Nick Fury.
While Captain Monica Rambeau investigates the ominous disturbances near the S.A.B.E.R. station, Carol Danvers—Captain Marvel—tracks the source of the anomaly to a newly opened Jump Point created by Dar-Benn herself. Simultaneously, on Earth, teenager Kamala Khan, the wielder of the second Quantum Band, is safely ensconced in her bedroom, biding her time crafting fan fiction about her superhero alter-ego, Ms. Marvel, and her idol, Danvers. Fate intervenes when Danvers, Rambeau, and Khan touch their respective jump points or use their powers at the same moment. The result is a disorienting displacement: the three women begin switching places across the cosmos.
The confusion is instant. Rambeau finds herself displaced, while Danvers and Khan are hurled into each other's locations. The trio is immediately forced to utilize their distinct light-based powers to fend off Kree enemies that have followed them through the spatial ruptures. The chaotic skirmish spills into Jersey City, resulting in the catastrophic destruction of the Khan family home as the heroes inadvertently swap back and forth while trying to survive the ambush.
The Skrull Sanctuary and the Fall of Tarnax IV
Once the dust settles and the three return to their original locations, Fury and Rambeau travel to Earth to visit Kamala and her family. Rambeau proposes a theory for the chaos: their light-based abilities are connected through quantum entanglement, causing them to physically switch places whenever any of them use their powers simultaneously. Realizing they must work together to solve the crisis, Danvers, Rambeau, and Khan converge.
Their journey leads them to a Skrull refugee colony on Tarnax IV, a planet founded through Danvers' aid to provide a safe haven for the displaced shapeshifters. The situation on the ground is precarious, with complex peace negotiations balancing on a razor's edge. Just as the heroes arrive, the fragile peace is shattered. Dar-Benn appears, tearing open another massive jump point. She ruthlessly begins siphoning the atmosphere from Tarnax IV to replenish the breathable air on her dying homeworld, Hala. Amidst the devastation, Danvers, Rambeau, and Khan scramble to evacuate the colony, but the planet is left in ruins.
Forging "The Marvels" and the Truth of the Bands
Following the tragedy at Tarnax, the three heroes retreat to regroup. Kamala, ever the optimist, dubs their newly formed team "The Marvels." Recognizing that their entangled powers are a liability in combat if uncontrolled, they spend time training together, learning the rhythm of their connection and eventually mastering the ability to switch on command for tactical advantage.
During this downtime, Danvers reveals the history of the artifacts involved. She explains that the Quantum Bands played a significant role in establishing the original jump point network. Dar-Benn, however, has corrupted this legacy by merging her Quantum Band with the Kree's Universal Weapon, causing the dangerous instability threatening the galaxy. The group deduces Dar-Benn's motivation: she is targeting planets that hold personal significance to Danvers, whom she holds responsible for the desolation of Hala and refers to as "The Annihilator." With the atmosphere secured, Dar-Benn is now hunting for water and a heat source.
The Siege of Aladna
Predicting Dar-Benn's next move, The Marvels race to the water planet Aladna. They arrive ahead of the Kree forces and urgently warn the locals, preparing them for an impending attack. It isn't long before Dar-Benn descends upon the planet, intent on diverting its vast oceans to restore Hala's seas.
A fierce battle ensues. The Marvels utilize their switching techniques to engage the enemy, but Dar-Benn is a formidable opponent. In the heat of the conflict, she nearly seizes Kamala's Quantum Band, which would complete her set and grant her unlimited power. Despite Danvers' insistence that they can stay and stop the Kree Supremor, Khan makes the difficult call to prioritize keeping the Band safe. She forces the team to retreat, leaving Aladna behind. This decision leads to a heated argument between the three women, exposing their insecurities and frustrations.
The Final Incursion and the Rift
After a period of tension, the trio reconciles, realizing that their unity is their only strength. They deduce Dar-Benn's final target: Earth's Sun, which she intends to use to reignite the dying star of Hala. The Marvels intercept her, engaging in a high-stakes final confrontation. They successfully subdue Dar-Benn, but in a desperate final attempt to achieve her goal, she acquires both Quantum Bands.
Unleashing the full might of the artifacts, Dar-Benn uses them to tear a massive hole in space. However, the power is too great to control. The action results in Dar-Benn's destruction and effectively terminates the entanglement between Danvers, Rambeau, and Khan. However, the damage is done: a massive rupture between realities has formed, threatening to consume everything.
A Hero's Sacrifice and a New Dawn
Kamala successfully retrieves the pair of Quantum Bands from the wreckage. Acting quickly, she and Danvers seamlessly blend their formidable powers to infuse Rambeau with an unprecedented surge of energy. This newfound strength enables Rambeau to fly directly into the anomaly. She manages to seal the interdimensional rift, but to do so, she must close it from the alternate side, leaving her stranded in another reality as the gateway shuts.
Back in their home dimension, the immediate crisis is averted. As Kamala makes her return to Earth, Danvers turns her attention to the Kree homeworld. Soaring towards Hala's sun, she employs her cosmic powers to rejuvenate the celestial body, finally restoring life and hope to the Kree people.
The Next Generation and the Multiverse
Back on Earth, inspired by her journey and the mentorship of Danvers and Rambeau, Kamala begins to assemble a new team of young heroes. Her recruitment drive begins in New York, where she approaches Kate Bishop with an offer to join a larger initiative.
Meanwhile, in a reality far removed from her own, Monica Rambeau awakens in a medical bay. She is greeted by a woman who appears to be her mother, Maria, but in this universe, she is the hero known as Binary. Standing alongside her is a mutant scientist, Beast, confirming that Rambeau has indeed crossed the threshold into a completely different universe.
